EXPLANATIONS ON THE POWER OF DIVINITY, VODO
Voodoo comes from the word "Vodoun", which means in Fon language: "What cannot be elucidated, effective power". Which manifested itself in the entities Mawu and Lissa, embodiments of the masculine and feminine principles. From Mawu and Lissa were born, according to legend, fourteen CHILDREN endowed with supernatural powers. These had as descendants: Chango, the god of thunder, Nana Bouloukou, the goddess of the earth, of the night and its mysteries, as well as Sakpata, the god of justice and the spread of smallpox and various deities isolated.
The whole voodoo ritual is performed by the grand master, responsible for the community and guarantor of spiritual values, representing the Universal Divine Ancestor; priests and priestesses are called mambos.
Its rites, domestic or public, express supplication, by prayer addressed to the Spirit of God or Solar Spirits, Ancestors (equivalent to Christian Saints) the Iwas, close to man, they participate in their work, to their parties and their mourning. Or to the Divine Ancestor who reigns in the kingdom of the sun, with the Eternal God. Thank God Spirit and fidelity to the beliefs of the existence of an invisible world, that of the spirits of Ancestor, in dynamic link with the visible world in which we are alive.
The voodoo ritual, call to dance, it is a dance religion (…)
The invisible world manifests itself through trance by borrowing a body, an identity and an almost magic formula. These are well-known divinities who manifest themselves at the request of people. Will they carry good or bad news? Will they be the spirit of light or the spirit of darkness?
